Taupe & Neutral Dyed Yarn Cotton Fabric

While the colour Taupe is often thought to be the colours between brown and grey, taupe actually belongs to a family of neutral colours that are made by mixing  complementary colours on the colour wheel. The easiest way to understand complementary colour are that they are the colours directly across from each other on a colour wheel. (Ie: orange & blue) When mixed they sort of mute each other. The result is a very complex beautiful taupe colour.

Taupe and neutral colours may be cool or warm, light or dark, show one of the colours predominately, or be muted until what you see appears as brown or grey.

These colours are experienced as calming and comfortable.   You can find books & patterns for using taupe fabrics by   Japanese Master Quilter Yoko Saito at this link.
