Kogin Sashiko

Kogin stitching is a traditional stitching technique that originated in Northern Japan hundreds of years ago. It is one of the sashiko stitching techniques and was used both to embellish clothing, and to create strong reinforcements and repairs.

Kogin stitching is simple to do. The designs are developed by counting and stitching over sets of odd numbers of threads in the weft of the Kogin fabric.
