An excellent easy to stitch first sashiko project. This kit will make two 12" X 18" table place mat tops in a traditional Sashiko Seigaiha (waves) pattern.
In the package are 2 pieces of pre-printed sashiko fabric, each 15" X 21", Pocket Guide to Sashiko & Boro Stitching, 2-20 meters of white sashiko thread and a sashiko needle.
This Seigaiha Sashiko pattern is printed on mid-weight smooth 100% cotton fabric with wash away ink. The printed markings will wash out completely so please do not get it wet before you have completed your stitching. Also do not iron until completed, heat will set the printed markings.
Notes:
- The fabric pieces are large enough to allow you 3" all around for easy handling and for seam allowances later. You can, of course, adjust the size of your placemat to suit your preference.
- This fabric wears well and will not shrink. You can wash and dry it in your machines with other laundry items.
