Sashiko Table Mat, Shippou-tsunagi

This table mat is a nice beginner sashiko project.  The shppou-tsunagi design is printed on the fabric with wash away ink so you can skip the transfer step and go straight to enjoying your stitching. 

The stitch length markings on the fabric make it easy to keep your stitching even and straight. 

About the pattern:  Shippou-tsunagi means linked seven treasures or linked seven precious things, but is often called linked Flowers.  This is one of the most popular sashiko patterns.

• Package contains printed fabric and english instructions.
• Fabric is 100% cotton, dark navy colour
• You will need 1 - 20 meter skein of Olympus sashiko thread (or of the sashiko thread you prefer)

Note  the fabric in the kit is twice the length of the design. You are meant to fold the plain half of the fabric under the printed half and stitch through both layers. If you bury your thread ends between the two layers of cloth both sides of the finished mat will show the stitched design nicely.
