This table mat is a nice beginner sashiko project. The Hana-Guruma pattern is printed on the cotton navy fabric with wash away ink so you can skip the transfer step and go straight to enjoying your stitching. Approx finished size: 12" X 18".
The stitch length markings on the fabric make it easy to keep your stitching even and straight.
About the pattern: Hana means 'flower' and Guruma means 'cart, wheel, or wagon. In this pattern the wheel-like arrangement of the flower shapes combines both to suggest a cart full of flowers.

Note The fabric in the kit is twice the length of the design. You are meant to fold the plain half of the fabric under the printed half and stitch through both layers. If you bury your thread ends between the two layers of cloth both sides of the finished mat will show the stitched design nicely.
