This is 3 hand-dyed katazome print cotton fabric pieces, each is 6" X 10". The patterns are the same as shown here. 100% cotton artisan fabric hand-made by skilled crafts-people.
Katazome is a traditional Japanese stencil-resist dyeing technique. A rice-paste resist is applied to fabric through a stencil, then the cloth is dyed—often with indigo—to create patterned designs.
100 % cotton with a firm hand which makes this fabric very suitable for mending jeans and jackets but they can also be used on lighter weight clothing and home decor items.
Prewash? No blue has rubbed off on my fingers as I handled these fabrics so I believe the dye is well fixed in the cloth, but check for yourself by rinsing in warm water. They won't shrink.
Care: You can machine wash and dry these but it is best to use low heat and take them out of the dryer before fully dry.
