A rice bag is what the Japanese use to take rice to the temple for an offering or to take to the market the fill with rice. This is a take off of those bags. It is made with 2" hexagons and some easy big stitch quilting, if you like. It can also be made with scraps of fabric or yardage
The pattern is for english paper piecing but you can use any method for piecing the hexis that you prefer. You could also use this pattern to make a a rice bag from your boro stitched or sashiko stitched fabrics - just substitute the same size piece of one of those for the size of completed hexis fabric called for in the pattern. Or...you could combine boro and sashiko on the same rice bag...
