Visible Mending Fabrics

An ideal fabric for sashiko stitching is a ntural fibre wiht an open enough fibre and weave that when it is washed the loose fibres of the sashiko thread with be able to bind to the fabric when washed.  These fabrics do that particulariy when stitched with the Olympus sashiko thread. Olympus sashiko thread has a looser twist so that when washed the thread fibres will swell and lock into the  cloth fibres. After a number of washings the cloth and the stitching will both have softened and become as if hte are onefabric.
