Printed Kasuri, Wagara & Shibori

This collection contains traditional Japanese patterns printed on quality cotton fabrics. Patterns in this collection are printed on the fabric, original kasuri wagara would be have hand tied dyed yarn woven into patterns, and original shibori is a hand done dying technique. Both are very skilled and expensive techniques mostly done only in small private artisan studios now. These are good quality affordable versions of the designs made and imported from Japan. Colourfast, washable.

What is a wagara fabric?  Wa meaning “Japanese-style” and "gara" meaning pattern, this word translates into "cloth decorated with patterns that are particular to Japan."
