Dyed yarn fabrics get their distinctive appearance and feel from how they are woven. The yarns (threads) are dyed first, and then the cloth is woven. Often a few different weights or textures of yarn (thread) are woven into the cloth to create a more textured fabric. The front and back of the fabrics are both 'right sides", some have quite different textures. When this happens I have included a photograph to show both sides.

Dyed yarn fabrics are suitable for machine or hand sewing. I particularly like them for hand appliqué and hand stitching (boro) as the weave lets the needle travel through easily.

Recommended care instructions: Machine wash in lukewarm water, remove from dryer before fully dry, press if desired. These fabrics have little shrinkage and keep their colour and drape when washed.
