Ultimate Sashiko Card Deck by Susan Briscoe

( / )

Susan Briscoe has brought us another excellent sashiko product for both beginners and experienced Sashiko stitchers.

This time it is a beautifully boxed set of 52 Sashiko cards, each with a sample of a stitched design on one side, and easy to use diagrams and instructions on the back for drawing and stitching the design yourself.

Among the 52 cards are nine easy to identify foundational stitch patterns that act as the starting point for sashiko.  If you have been sashiko stitching for some time, you will find these interesting to learn about.

The cards are beautifully presented in a strong wafer sealed box, with a red belly band. Included in a 16 page booklet which fits inside the box is everything from you need to know if you are an absolute beginner, from how to start your stitching, stitch without knots, find the order of stitching,  to choosing fabrics, threads & needles.

If you can only buy one 'how to sashiko' product, I would recommend this one.

More details:

The cards are the perfect introduction to this ancient art, with a beautiful photograph sample presented along with the name of the stitch pattern and a little bit about it, including which other patterns it pairs well with or may be similar to. The cards show the finished stitch pattern as a beautiful swatch, along with a brief history of its name, and on the overleaf the instructions for how to make the pattern yourself, with a clear diagram.
