This sturdy smooth wooden mending mushroom stands 4 1/4" tall.
The head is 2" across by 1" deep and pulls off to give access to a hollow in the stem for storing darning needles.
The head is grooved above the base. After stretching your item to be mended over the head, secure it firmly by stretching an elastic over the head and into the groove.
I find this works well for socks and light sweaters but prefer to wrap the elastic under the base of the head on thick fabrics like denim jeans.
