Hitome-zashi Sashiko Cloth, Snowflakes
Please select all options.
This is not traditional sashiko, but that only matters if it matters to you :-) It is a flurry of snowflakes stitching design. It would be a perfect hana-fukin cloth for winter or the holiday season.
Printed in wash out ink on a natural light linen colour cloth (15% Linen, 85% cotton). All you have to do is thread your sashiko needle with some sashiko thread and stitch over the printed lines. Stitch all the way across the fabric, one line at a time, first the horizontal lines, then vertical lines, then the diagonals.
When you are finished your stitching, soak and rinse in warm water to wash out the printed markings.
The cloth in this package is 13 1/2" X 25 1/2", the printed area for stitching is 12" X 12". Use the unprinted fabric as a backing, or for a more quilted looking stitching, fold it behind the printed side and stitch through both layers.
Design is by Ky Fujita
Any of the sashiko needles and threads will be suitable for this fabric, but if you are puzzled for choice, try the Hidamari Cosmo threads and needles.
