This is a high quality cotton artisan fabric panel printed with 20 Hikeshi-Hanten (Firemen's Coats) from the EDO period (1603-1867) in Japan. Manufactured by Olympus Manufacturing it is both colourfast and machine washable.
For more about Olympus' quality fabric and thread manufacturing standards, and about Wagara and Kasuri fabrics see my blog.
Each panel is 30" long X 43" wide. There are five coats across and four down, all different from each other. The off-white areas the coats are framed and measure 7" X 5 1/2".
