This is a high quality cotton artisan fabric is printed with a traditional kasuri design. Manufactured entirely in Japan by Olympus Manufacturing, it retains the feel and look of the traditional handwoven fabric, but is both colourfast and machine washable.
For more about Olympus' quality fabric standards, and about Wagara and Kasuri fabrics see my blog.
The fabric is lightweight but has more texture than North American quilting fabrics. The weave is suitable for sashiko and boro stitching, and the traditional dark indigo blue colour makes it suitable for combining with sashiko stitched pieces in your sashiko project making.
