"Alabama Studio Sewing & Design by Natalie Chanin is for any woman who has dreamed of stitching her own gorgeous wardrobe" reads the back of the book.

The book itself is a gorgeous hardback volume packed with clear readable techniques, information, and wonderful photographs. I would describe the quality and contents of its contents as a textbook, but it is at the same time enjoyable interesting reading.  There is, in fact so much information in this book that I am going to rely on photographs to show you a sampling.

Natalie Chanin is an award winning designer with her own organic cotton clothing company. In this book she presents all the techniques she uses to make eight pieces of clothing, starting with the basic form, then embellishing the pieces to make mixed, matched and layered pieces, making it possible for you to create this wardrobe while learning to adapt and alter to suit yourself.

Note: The projects in this book use knit cotton fabrics and make use of the raw edges because they do not fray. If you prefer wovens you probably don't want this book :-)

The book contains full size master pattern pieces for making a t-shirt, and bolero both with sleeve variations, and short fitted dress, long fitted dress, fitted top, fitted tunic, short skirt, mid-length skirt, long skirt
