This is high quality cotton fabric printed with multiple traditional kasuri design. Manufactured in Japan by Olympus Manufacturing, it retains the feel and look of traditional handwoven fabric, but is both colourfast and machine washable.
For more about Olympus' quality fabric manufacturing standards, and about Wagara and Kasuri fabrics see my blog.
This fabric is lightweight but has more texture than North American quilting fabrics. The weave is suitable for sashiko and boro stitching, and the traditional dark indigo blue colour makes it suitable for combining with sashiko stitched pieces.
