The stitch dome tool was designed for keeping fabric smooth and tight while you add little embroideries or appliqués to your clothing. Possible the designers had only decorative stitching in mind, but this is a great tool for mending and up-cyling clothing.
I have also used it for making woven mends on blue jeans and liked how easily the wide silicone elastic held the denim tight and smooth while I worked.
