Large Sashiko Snowflake Pattern

This is a full size paper pattern for a large (33" X 33") sashiko snowflake.  It makes a stunning centre for a winter tablecloth or quilt.  I stitched it on blue linen/cotton here, and surrounded it with smaller snowflakes for a large tablecloth.

You will need to transfer the design onto your fabric. I used the featherweight fusible interfacing method, and added alight fabric backing(see how to in my blogs) Alternatively you could use a sewing transfer carbon and if you find the markings fading too much as you stitch, trace over them with an iron away marking pen.

Invest in a good quality fabric because this is a 'big' stitching project. The result is very worth it and will become a cherished heirloom textile.

Designed by Canadian (B.C.) quilter and sashiko stitcher Val Wojtula.

I've also seen this stitched on red with white for Christmas. Very striking!
