New from Olympus, 80 meter balls of thin sashiko thread, is ideal for many types of hand stitching besides sashiko. It is quality 100% cotton thread about the same thickness as #12 perle cotton (or like two strands of embroidery cotton thread)
It will be a excellent for stitching sashiko designs with dense patterns or for scaled down (small) sashiko designs. Olympus recommend it for use with their sashiko hitomezashi and sashiko & weaving fabric kits.
I also recommend it for adding embroidery onto quilt tops (eg. Yoko Saito and other dyed yarn fabric quilt patterns) for boro stitching, crazy quilting, and wool applique projects.
