Amazing Sashiko (Beyond the Basic Stitching)
I've built this collection around the book Amazing Sashiko because it is such an excellent source book for learning how to stitch the two (new to north America) Japanese sashiko techniques Hitomezashi (one stitch designs) and Kugurizashi (stitch & weave).
Like traditional large pattern sashiko (moyozashi) both these techniques look complex when finished but don't be intimidated, they are surprisingly easy and restful stitching. That being said, most have only Japanese instructions with them - this book is the solution to that problem! :-) And for several I have written "How to" blogs.
